What is Change in DIN ?

Director Identification Number (DIN) is a mandatory requirement for all existing and new directors of a company. A DIN is issued in accordance with the directions provided by the amendment to the Companies Act. It is an 8-digit Unique Identification Number allotted to all directors by Ministry of Corporate Affairs. It has lifetime validity.

Can We change Particulars of DIN ?

Yes. Once an individual gets his DIN, the information filed during obtaining such DIN may change from time to time with respect to name, email id, address etc. Hence, such individual is required to intimate to the central government for Changes in DIN Details by form DIR-6. Thus in this article we shall discuss about the detailed procedure, purpose and requirements while applying for change in particulars of DIN.

Procedure for the Change in DIN
  • Download form DIR-6 from the MCA portal.
  • Fill the details accordingly.
  • Attach the self-attested document as proof for change in particulars:
  • Proof of Identity: In the case of Indian Nationals PAN card is mandatory and in the case of foreign nationals, Passport is mandatory.
  • Proof of residence: Bank Statement, Electricity bill, telephone bill. (not older than 2 months)
